Table Centerpiece Ideas and More Wedding Centerpieces should always reflect the tastes and personality of the bride and groom. Think about where your wedding ceremony and reception will be held, this will help you decide how little or how much you need to add in the way of flowers and decorations. To achieve a well-balanced effect, pick vases or containers that suit the flowers you have chosen and that also complement the theme and layout of your reception site. Choose an affordable friendly centerpiece that reflects your tastes and personality, and remember that you don't want to make your guests lean around your arrangements for conversation. You can have a lot of fun with table decorations and a small investment of time can save a lot of money!
- Choosing Flowers: Flowers should be selected for their color, shape and the lengths of their stem (they can always be cut shorter if needed). Flowers are used for enhancing rather than dominating, a simple arrangement of two or three varieties with a little foliage (to create movement in the design) will be more effective than an elaborate display.Choose flowers that reflect your taste and match your theme.
- Low-level centerpieces: Great for friendly conversation and cost effective, for example: Use a pedestal cake plate holder and covering the plate with an arrangement of cupcakes, cookies or extravagantly presented food can look just as striking as a flower arrangement.
- Candles running down the length of a table, or bunched together on a round table, such as votives for a soothing flicker or a radiant display of tapers or pillars on decorative holders. Be sure to use a color and style that will enhance the overall effect of your theme and taste.
- Use a tall vase or tower vase with a single flower or three. This will help keep your cost down and gives your tables' style and elegance. They can stand alone or you can accent around the vase with flower petals and decorative confetti and votive candles for a romantic and spectacular effect.
- Floating Candles can be placed in clear glass bowls; they do not have to match, along with silk or real flower petals and one or two fresh or silk flower heads.
***TIP: Buy a bush of silk flowers or a flowering plant, you get numerous flowers this way, and you can cut the flower heads and use them for several wedding table centerpieces. Very cost effective!
- Take a tall pedestal candle holder wrap flower garland or ivy around the stem of the holder and use either wax or water candles in the holder. Instead of using candles you can also create a small flower arrangement to insert into the top cup of the holder. Surrounding it with votive, tealight candles or both for a romantic effect.
- Use flower petals and sprinkle them in the center of your tables. Place a pillar candle in the center and sprinkle the tabletop with diamond confetti for sparkle and shine. You can use any size or style of candle and combine them in a group instead of using just the pillar candle. Be sure to place your candles on holders or in a decorative small plate. Placing water in these will keep the wax from sticking.
- Using colored square vases place pre cut, pre soaked floral foam (dry for silk flowers) in the center of the vase. Using the flowers of your choice cut the stems down to different lengths. Shorter for around the edges of the vase and longer for the center for height variations. Insert them into the foam arranging them until you get the look you want. Use your left over foliage to add color accent to your centerpiece. It is a good idea to practice on just one until you accomplish the look and style you want.
**TIP: If you are using silk flowers you can use decorative sand, river rocks or glass stones instead of floral foam to hold and rearrange your plants and flowers.
- If you want to anchor flowers in the bottom of vases - cut floral foam to fit vase, soak it in water. Insert flower into the center of the floral foam and anchor in the bottom of the vase with river rock. Fill the vase with water, top off with floating candles or water candles for a romantic sophisticated look.
